2021 F350 Tremor, 6.7L
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve really enjoyed my 2021 F350 Tremor. My p/up is Star White. If you have seen Star White in-person, you should, as pics do not do it justice. The metallic flake in it is nice. My camera can’t seem to adequately capture it...anyway, I started my build by installing a Ranch Hand grille guard. The Ranch Hand is black, naturally, and I think it goes well with the Black Appearance Package. When I built (ordered) the truck, I really wanted 2-tone paint, but couldn’t order 2-tone with the Black Appearance Pkg.
Here is what I want(ed) the paint to look like:

A Chevy/GMC dealership is doing my body (paint) work for me. They do excellent work. Thing is, I didn’t fully comprehend just how extensive the dismantle job would be. I knew both bumpers would have to come off, in order to paint them, but I didn’t realize the bed would come off, altogether... Also, all of the doors have been completely stripped-down and the windows removed. Compared to other vehicles (and even earlier style Super Duties), it’s quite incredible how much the doors of the truck “wrap-inward” at the bottom. Have you taken a good look at this on your truck? Of course I’ve looked at my doors, but I’ll admit I didn’t fully comprehend just how much they “wrap” at the bottom(s)....even the paint guys mentioned this (especially compared to GMC).
Here’s some pics from this morning:

Needless to say, this is going to set me back a little more than the $470 it costs (from the factory) for 2-tone. ?
Anyway, this has been my plan from the start and I’m happy that it’s happening, now! ?
The head of the body shop and I went back & forth on whether or not to paint-match the Ranch Hand. After lots of studying on it, I (we) decided to leave the grille guard black. Either option would look nice, I believe, but I think it’ll look a bit nicer remaining black, considering the Black Appearance Pkg.
If y’all would like, I can post some “after” pics, similar to the “before” pics, above.
God bless,

Same here. Didn't want to order the two tone truck and paint the trim pieces black instead?
I’m confused as well. Why take all that out when you are just painting the lower portion of the truck

I believe removing the bed is all about the area(s) where the bed and cab come together.... they kind of “wrap” into one another, and from what I understand, it would be very difficult to get clean paint lines without removing the bed
Now why the insides of the door have to come off? I have no idea ?‍♂️

I feel like I’m missing something here.
why is the bed off and the interior door panels off and windows out
If the lower door panels are being painted different color, this is the proper way to strip the door down for painting and taping. I always pay the extra $20 at the asian massage parlor to get the job done right!

Yes, you’re right!

There’s nothing being done to my truck other than the 2-tone.
Having next to zero experience with auto paint, I was a little taken aback when I first laid eyes on my (disassembled) truck ?. I’ll admit I did not know the p/up would have to come apart (this much) to paint 2-tone. I knew both bumpers and the fender flares would have to be removed, but I didn’t know about the removal of the bed or the complete disassembly of the doors.
I trust the bodyshop I took my p/up, and I know they will do it the right way.

The addition of my 2-tone is coming along good.
Attached are some pics. The color is “Stone Gray”.
The true color can only be seen in the pics of the fender flares (first pic). In the other pics, the lighting isn’t good in the room and the paint appears much darker than it actually is.
Today (Thursday) my truck thankfully went to the “reassembly room”, and I hope to get it back, tomorrow.

Sunny Florida, congrats on your decal find—those look pretty good, but wouldn’t be too cool on my Power Stroke....

* edit:
Sunny Florida, please stop spamming the entire forum with info about your decals. Enough, already.

I was pretty excited because the 6.7 Power Stroke comes with a badge

the 7.3 had nothing...

You actually found a shop that will do the job 110% right.
