I almost DEF’d up!

Getting fuel today and I needed to add DEF as well. A guy driving a Ram 3500 dually saw me getting the box of DEF out of the back of the truck hollers “pig piss!” And then backs into the pump next to me. Then he starts chatting me up. I finish fueling and add some Hotshots. I leave the fuel cap open and take the Hotshots to the back of the truck. This guy is still chatting me up and I grab the box of DEF and stick the nozzle in the open fuel tank. I get the box halfway tilted to pour and I luckily realize what the hell I’m doing and pull it out before it started to pour. 😰 I put the fuel cap on and proceed to put DEF in the proper tank. The guy chatting me up after I realized the huge mistake I was about to make said “yeah wrong hole” 😂 I always wondered how someone could be so dumb and mix them up. Now I know! Be safe out there! Don’t get distracted!
 
I got distracted once and nearly put DEF in the fuel tank too. Shit happens!!!

great advice and routine, I do something very similar to guard against mistakes
 
To avoid just that, I always order only Platinum DEF online from Walmart and top-off at home. This gives me about 5000 miles range. When it gets to half I'll order another box and keep full. That way I'm pretty much never in a situation where I need DEF on the road. I also add my mixture of LX4 and PS at the pump, before filling up. Just my routine.

I normally do the same unless filling DEF at a truck stop.
