I had a dealer perform the above mentioned TSB this week and it fixed the home screen problem, which was my biggest gripe. They claimed that it wasnt possible to change the truck to not show a platinum, though. Its not a problem for me though, just glad it starts up where i left off each time
Fine shavings in the oil is fine. Chunks of bearing or chips off the ring and pinion are more of a problem. Its highly, highly unlikely to be a diff problem unless you spend considerable time in 4wd. The driveshaft isnt spinning unless its in 4hi or low
Its centered in the housing. I'm sure they make the opening larger to accommodate multiple light brands. The s2's fit nice and tight, sqaudrons a bit more gap.
That's how mine are wired, s2 on factory fog switch, sqaudrons on upfitter. Worst part is you need a 13mm wrench to get one bolt out, then getting them aligned in the housing took a bit to figure out on the first side. Second side went much faster. Probably took 3hrs total to install and wire.
Aftermarket companies sell gears for these trucks every day. May not be for parts, but they work just the same. Personally, id find a good 4x4 shop and have them take a look
I went to the big specs yearly bourbon release this morning in Houston. I got there at 845, and was about number 470 in line. Still a great haul for being pretty fast back in line. First person in line for there 4am Christmas day.
