Just because you have a SD doesn’t mean it will compensate for improper trailer weight distribution. Our rule for trailering is: if the load doesn’t create a little sag on the rear truck suspension, it is going to be trouble!!
Thanks for the replies and help. I forgot to mention in the OP, that with hubs turned in manually 4WD does engage, but has a loud metal squealing noise like when a rock gets stuck between a brake pad and disc. A little grinding noise too. Hence, my reluctance to use it and wait for dealer...
Thanks for all the replies and help. I agree personal responsibility is a must! Yes, we are prepared (Tools, tire repair kits, spare tires, Yankum ropes, tow straps, shovels, traction pads, cum-a-longs, satellite phone, proper winter tires and summer tires - MT Baja, etc.) lock hubs in...
Have had similar issues, first time was a hub seal as mentioned previously and a broken vacuum line connector. First, two times 4WD worked by manually turning hubs in. This time still squealing, grinding and clunking in 4WD and manual. I think some metal is normal in most 4wd diffs, chunks...
Thanks for all the help. Last couple of times turning the hubs to manual did solve the problem. Great to have the manual option. It does shift into 4WD with manual hubs, but now I am getting a high pitched metal on metal squealing noise. That was after the latest Auto shift that had a loud...
I went back and forth, but opted for the 6.7. We tow a lot, but, tow heavy and regularly at grade and altitude. No, turbo does not loose much power at altitude. If not towing over mountain passes regularly at 6%+ grades, I would have taken the 7.3 for daily driving. But, hate being in the...
Curious if anyone else has had issues with the Auto 4WD and the vacuum system that enables it. There is a plastic T connector in the system. For the 4th time this $2 plastic connector has cracked after driving on the beach, in mud and in snowy icy conditions. This seems ludicrous for a truck...
Good clarification. Auto 4WD is not the same as Auto Locking Hubs. It would be nice to have an Auto 4WD option (computer controlled) for driving on intermittent road conditions, but, it may not meet the rigors of a SD truck. Maybe, aluminum or carbon fiber connectors might be a better option?
Did you get this resolved? Just had the same issue after a little mud excursion:mad: Had to put hubs in manual to engage and disengage. If manual works then probably a vacuum issue as mentioned above. Cracked vacuum line T. Ford tech- “Something must have flown up and hit the T”. WTF? On...
This little gem has been sipping well…
Agreed Booker’s small batch is always good, but of late it seems the neck pour is not great but, a little O2 does wonders for it….Just my .02. It has been a favorite of mine before high proof was a thing! Nice choice!
Just added this to the 10yr vertical collection. Not easy to get in my area. Dumb luck. Curious if any of the George T. that didn’t meet standards in ‘21 have made it into the Jr’s? But, they dropped the Jr….Hmm.. Looks like it’s all grown up now:)
