Ok so I'm new to these newer trucks and I'm not understanding what the whole FORscan deal is all about. It seems that it just changes some of the settings for the truck, is that correct? What all is involved and where can i purchase it?

Need a wi does pc and the obd 2 usb cable from Amazon and the software that is free but you can pay for a subscription if you want

It depends on how good you are with your Mac... Some people have been able to install a virtual machine type of deal and make it work. I just got a cheap HP laptop from Best Buy for like $300 and plan to wrap it up for my wife as a Christmas present when I'm done. ;)

Mac is a no go unless you use a Virtual machine

It works with mac. You can download virtualbox or vmware for free. You then need to download the developer version of windows (free and doesn't need activation code). Install forscan on it. Once you connect your USB device it will ask you to connect to the VM or to the Mac, choose the windows VM.
In a previous thread I linked where to download 2 versions of windows that you can get for free. They both are for limited times but you can snapshot the VM and revert back to the snapshot once the 90 days is up.

Mac is a no go!

I am a huge apple guy, so I went out and got a cheap Dell laptop from Best Buy for $250 bucks just for my Forscan. It is awesome the more time you spend and research the happier you will be with it.

☝ This.. I was trying to think of a way to say the same thing without it being a novel.

Have a Mac lap top. Installed Windows on it for my ham radio updates. I just boot in either Mac OS or Windows 10. One box does it all.

Sure is nice to have the double honk gone. That was annoying.

I think they took the double honk off the 2021 super duties. Mine doesn't do it????

That’s the same one I have. It works. The only thing I had a problem with was the drivers on my old laptop. (Really old, like windows 7 old. Lol) But there’s really good instructions online on how to update. My new laptop had no trouble at all.

So, just a laptop, that plug and the software and you’re set.
