2020+ Super Duty Known Issues

Has anyone had issues with the 6.7 fuel pump ?
Lots of noise and thumping peculating sound from drivers side rear this is my 6th 6.7 none of the others made this racket

I’m not the only one here that has a leaking transmission from the factory. I have heard back from 6.7 and 7.3 owners. No parts available with no timeframe known so replacement truck was ordered in my case.

I have not heard of any leaking prior to covid shutdown.....as a matter of fact, I think Ford had a really hard time coming out of that production shutdown with respect to quality control. I saw a Black Tremor on facebook that was missing paint off the inside of a door frame. Have not seen shit like that since the 70s

The longer I have had my Tremor, the more I notice how much dirt is in the paint. It looks good from a distance, but once you are up on it (such as wiping it down) you can see all the dirt. By far the worst paint job I have ever had on a Ford vehicle in reference to dirt in the paint as just about every panel has some type of dirt in it. My truck also suffers from poor paint coverage on inside of door frame, as I can see the primer through the paint near the inside of the door panel covers.

Same here- took mine in for excessive noise and they said it was LPFP - they dropped the tank and put a new one and it still does it. They called in to Ford Friday to see if they have any guidance and I’m waiting to hear back. Symptoms are loud pumping noise / humming and a vibration/ banging almost in the fuel tank that you can feel if you put your hands on it. Truck runs fine though ??‍♂️

Noticed sometimes when I close my sunroof, and it gets almost closed it starts to reopen.. weird.

Can you post some pictures of the paint issues, also what color?

Is there a pump for the DEF tank that could be making that noise?

You guys got me worried about paint missing in door jambs and stuff as I dont really look that close at things like that anymore but all seems well, actually truck seems really well built. My truck was manufactured on 6/20 which is post covid and on a Saturday, not sure if that is good or bad lol.

Possible- I’m not finding much online but did find a vid a guy made on another forum with the same exact sound and he described his as a ‘gurgling coming from exhaust’ - hard to tell exactly where it is coming from- definitely rear of the truck though

Anvil, I will try to take some pictures in the next couple of days. Hopefully it will show. My truck is an early build after Covid restart. I looks like the body was made pre-covid, then sat around and got dust on it before they just painted it. Funny enough the hood is one panel that does not have any dirt. I have had Fords since my '91 Mustang and have never had so much dirt in the paint. Just disappointed, the quality of everything else is been great so far.

My issue is the Goodyear tires that come on the tremor,,I drove mine about 300 miles this past week to Alt and back on I 20 .above 70 mph and sometimes (but not long) 80-85 this damm Truck is all over the road, rear tires felt like they had 20 psi in them, have 67 psi.. l,m thinking the 35/11/18 tires on 8" wide rims are just too narrow for this truck at high speeds, 60 -65 not bad but hold on above about that, I've owned probably 8-10 SD over the years and just traded my 17 SD lariat for this tremor package, 17 had 35/12.5 /20 and handled great at high speeds,,, got to be the pizza cutter tires, I'm hopeful that they wear out soon. ??
Check tire pressure our tremor did the same thing front tires were 80psi and rear were over 90 psi so I have my fronts at 60psi and the rear at 75 psi and handles 100% better hopefully that hepls

Ford replaced tank and lpfp and still does if progressively getting worse ...they are thinking software issue but it’s def the pump you gain put it in a bucket full of diesel and watch the pump chatter

Do you have a link to that video ?

So summarizing: Fuel pumps, sun roofs (though this is the same on all F-series trucks), transmission control unit, paint issues and leaking transmission.
Almost all of those are known issues to some F-series trucks. I.e. the 10R80 10-speed transmission on my raptor used to clunk like crazy, and folks had it replaced, sometimes multiple times. 3.5EB fights with cam phasers and timing chain... It's all about the percentage/probability of these issues and it's just hard to get a read on that. After all, if Ford steps up and fixes them or in the worst case scenario buys-back, at least they're doing what you would expect of them in those rare cases...

Had some rain last week and I came out of work to find water on the dash and console. No clearance lights or sunroof so i was surprised. I have an unexplained crack in the windshield (no obvious rock chip) so I knew it wasn't that.

Took it to the dealer on friday, they confirmed that the seal leaked and needed to be "re-glued". Apparently the '20 service manual says they can pull the windshield, reseal and re-use. Service writer said he has seen this before on the '20s.

Of course mine has a crack so they are concerned that the glass will break anyways. I have to pay for the new glass ($450....) but they will install under warranty.

My A/C is not working, All the modes are good but the compressor is not kicking on. I'm waiting for a loaner to be available. I'll post what happens here.
My AC compressor failed with 1200 miles on the truck. It kept the engine from starting and had to cut the belt off after having it towed to a dealership 11 hours from home. Got back home and was told the compressor was on back order for 1 1/2 months and they don't give out trucks as loaners. Got it fixed but it was not a good experience.

My AC compressor went out after about 7,000 miles. it took just over a month to get the part. And like you, it was fixed, but not a pleasant experience in the summer heat. My truck ran fine, just no cold air.
